I had my first root canal today and was a bit nervous. Dr. Hancock and his staff were awesome and made me feel totally at ease. I believe Tonya was the one who assisted him during the procedure. She was fantastic. She sat and talked to me before the procedure started and made sure I was comfortable (she got me a blanket, a pillow to support my neck, and I got to watch my favorite TV show on video glasses that they provided). Connie at the front desk is a gem. She is super friendly, polite, and organized. I wish she worked for me!
As for the procedure itself, it hurt less than getting a regular filling. They numbed my gums with gel before injecting the local anesthetic so I didn’t even feel the needle go in (my regular dentist skips the numbing gel, so I normally do have to feel that giant needle!). They said my gums might be sore afterwards just from putting a brace around the tooth during the procedure, but it’s been 7 hours since it was done and if I didn’t know any better I’d have no clue that anything had been done today. On a pain scale of 1-10 where 10 is the most painful, this procedure was a .25.
I hope I never have to have another root canal, but if I do it will definitely be with Dr. Hancock.
